'Building our new Y' Capital Campaign

Our dreams are becoming reality. Construction on our new YMCA in Chatham-Kent is underway.The new YMCA will serve thousands of citizens and will provide opportunities for everyone to learn, participate, and make healthier lifestyle choices. The new Y facility will feature two pools, state-of-the-art fitness facilities, specialized rooms for dance, yoga, pilates and other classes, as well as dedicated spaces for educational initiatives and community gatherings. Although licensed childcare will not be offered directly at the new building, the YMCA remains committed to providing high-quality childcare services within the Chatham-Kent community.

Financial support of $8.8M from Federal and Provincial Infrastructure Government funding, along with local corporate and private donations will help us complete our new YMCA. Our capital campaign has currently raised $4M toward our $5M goal. That means we’re only $1M away from our goal and we believe our giving communities will help us realize it!

YMCA CEO Jim Janzen, states, "There is still work to be done for our community campaign, but we're hopeful we will reach our fundraising goal prior to opening in July 2011. We are so grateful to Chatham-Kent residents for their unwavering support of our dream, and we are excited that we’ll be able to say ‘thank you’ with this incredible new facility.”
