Our Programs:
We place special emphasis on the developmental needs of each child in their age group:
Infant Care (birth - 18 months) Our infant programs place importance on providing the infant's individual needs in a secure, predictable and interesting environment. Sensory, auditory and musical activities are ways we encourage social, emotional and physical development.
Toddler Care (18 months - 2 1/2 years) Our toddler programs encourage children to explore their environment at their own pace with a hands-on approach that stimulates natural learning. The continual enhancement of social, emotional and physical development is a major focus.
Preschool Care (2 1/2 - 5 years) Our preschool programs provide opportunities for children to make choices based on their natural desire to learn new things and become more self-reliant. Emphasis is also placed on learning to get along with others.
School Age Care (6 - 12 years) Our before and after school programs are designed to foster creativity and encourage the development of both intellectual and physical well being. We know that building self-esteem and experiencing success is important to children in this age group.
Our Curriculum:
YMCA Playing to Learn
YMCA Playing to Learn is a child-led, play-based curriculum, researched and developed by YMCA Canada Child Care Professionals. Children learn best through true play and the YMCA Playing to Learn program allows the children to guide the activities of the day based on the interest that best captures their attention at that moment. Our trained and qualified staff become play partners in the child’s day and document the children’s milestones through parent information displays and daily journal writing.
