Ice Skating
Open Ice at the Sifto Arena
Non-Member: Activity Pass
If you are a member or a day pass user, and the ice is not booked, you are welcome to come and use the open ice. We cannot guarantee that it will be available when you get here. The ice is available for all uses - but we do count on co-operation from our members.
Please follow the guidelines as listed:
- Please 'Sign In' at the Membership Service Desk and record your name and time of arrival.
- During busy times the access doors to the ice surface will be locked in order to encourage users to Sign In at the Desk.
- During the summer months, Christmas Break, P.A. Days and Snow Days we will designate specific times for shinny hockey and open skate.
- The first users on the ice decide on the acitivty. If you have a stick and a puck, you must have a helmet. (Generally, if there is a group playing hockey or ringette, then no free skating will be allowed)
- Please limit your time on the ice to one hour maximum.
- Please co-operate with other users. The YMCA reserves the right to make the final decision on ice usage.
Open Ice Skating during the Summer Months
The Sifto Arena has year round ice available for rent.
Please call for specific days and times; 519 524-2125.
If the ice is not being rented then it is open for use by members and non-members with a
purchase of an activity pass (see rates below).
Please call in the morning of the day you wish to use the ice and the Membership Services Staff will advise you on the times that are open for skating.
It is a priority to rent ice, therefore if we get a rental it will cancel open skate and
shinny hockey.
During the summer months the open times are divided up for open skate (no pucks or sticks)
and shinny hockey. Please see the policy above for details.

The Activity Pass also gives Non-Members access to the pool, sauna, hot tub and gymnasium. It also gives access to the track for those 14 years of age and over. A great way to make full use of all the facilities! |
