International Project

YMCA international development and education is a very important part of Canadian YMCAs. Thirty-six (36) YMCAs (60%) participate in international projects. The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) provides Y Canada with $900,000 to be forwarded to participating YMCAs.

The programs have two major initiatives: 1. Community Awareness and Education, 2. Overseas Partnerships. The majority of the funds are spent in the overseas partnerships. International Development is one of our Core Service Areas and is committed to the other YMCAs located in more than 130 countries in the world.
