Located on the rocky shores of Beausoleil Island in Georgian Bay Islands National Park, YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth (CQE) is a leader in providing quality camping experiences for youth in a positive, supportive environment (since 1953). Through a wide range of activities, we encourage campers to challenge themselves and develop friendships that last a lifetime. Central to our program philosophy is the belief that spending time and having fun in an outdoor community creates an environment that allows participants to develop our five core values: Respect, Responsibility, Caring, Honesty, and Inclusiveness.

2022 Camp Registration
We are moving ahead with planning our traditional camp programs for the 2022 camp season and we can’t wait to see all of our campers back on the island. Registration for all non-leadership summer camp programs, Family Camps, and Yoga Weekends opens on Monday, January 24th at 9 am.

For all CQE Leadership programs there is a lottery placement process.  The 2022 CQE Leadership Lottery opens Monday, January 10th at 9 am and closes Friday, January 14 at 4 pm.  To apply for the lottery, you must submit an application online through our registration portal between these times.  The lottery will take place the week of January 17 to 21. Participants who receive their first choice will be automatically signed up for the program and notified by email. Participants who did not get their first choice will be added to the waitlist with a spot held in their second choice until the camping branch confirms with the participant that they would like to take the spot. Any remaining leadership spots that are still open after the lottery will be available for open registration after January 24th.

COVID-19 Updates for the 2022 Season

Ensuring the health and safety of our campers, staff and community members has always been our first priority.  To prepare for this summer, we are taking proactive steps to minimize potential disruption to our summer schedule and continue ensuring the safest possible environment. With that in mind we have the following announcement:

YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth is requiring that all eligible participants be fully vaccinated to attend any 2022 CQE summer programs, Family Camps, and Yoga Weekends.

Our past experience makes it very clear that overnight camp is a unique environment that includes close interactions and shared physical space and therefore virus containment can be significantly more challenging than in other spaces and day program formats. We know that being forced to cancel a session mid-summer due to illness would be heartbreaking for our campers and minimizing the chances of this happening is our responsibility.   Public Health authorities and the Ontario Camps Association have strongly recommended COVID-19 vaccines for everyone ages five years and older. All of our staff will also be fully vaccinated.

Full vaccination requires participants to have received the full series of doses as defined by the Ministry of Health at least two weeks prior to arrival at camp.  A declaration confirming vaccination status will be required before arriving at camp for all individuals ages five and older, and then proof of vaccination will be required for all upon arrival on the first day of the program. Families will be able to provide verification by way of vaccine receipts and QR codes.

If a participant is unable to be fully vaccinated due to an approved medical exemption, they or their family must contact CQE directly no later than June 1st. The individual will be required to show the enhanced vaccination exemption certificate with QR code, provided by the Health Unit, to support the exemption.  This will then be reviewed and must be approved by YMCA management.  Please note that additional safety precautions may be required for an individual to attend camp if they have an approved medical exemption.

If you have already registered for a camp program and are now unable to attend camp due to this policy, we will provide a full refund for your camp program. Please email us at cqe@swo.ymca.ca to confirm your cancellation in writing.

As we move closer to the camp season we are continuing to evaluate and develop our safety protocols for the summer and will communicate all policies and safety measures that will be in place. We will also be in touch in the coming months to provide you with more information about preparing for the camp experience in general.

Thank you for helping to keep our community safe and for your continued understanding as we navigate through this pandemic. If you have any questions, please contact us at 519-453-8858 x1102 or cqe@swo.ymca.ca.
