Our Indian Creek YMCA Child Care Centre in Chatham-Kent recently welcomed Ontario Education Minister Jill Dunlop and MPP Trevor Jones for a special visit. The tour showcased St. Clair College early childhood education students completing their work placements and highlighted the Y’s commitment to high-quality child care and play-based learning.

YMCA of Southwestern Ontario proudly announces the official naming of the Bierbaum Family Community Kitchen, celebrating the life and legacy of Ewald Josef Bierbaum. This newly dedicated space honours a remarkable journey that began in 1952 when Ewald arrived in Canada from Germany with only his tools and $20, and a significant milestone in community building.

During the 2024 YMCA Peace Week, YMCA of Southwestern Ontario joined YMCAs across Canada honouring individuals and groups who are leading the way in creating positive change.We are proud to present the YMCA Peace Medal to the following recipients:

Shauna’s journey at the YMCA began with the simple need of a mom - childminding. Her three boys were her world, and finding a place where they could thrive while she pursued her wellness goals felt like a blessing. What started as a convenient solution quickly blossomed into a deeper connection with the Y community.

In October, the City of Windsor hosted its annual ECE Appreciation Event, celebrating the dedication and achievements of Windsor-Essex Child Care Workers and Early Childhood Educators. This event recognized outstanding individuals through awards in categories such as Excellence in Early Learning, Emerging Professional, Advancing Pedagogy and Practice, and The Joy of Outdoor Learning.
