Chatham YMCA 2025-2026 Volleyball League
This season will bring you 20 weeks of regular season play and 3 weeks of playoffs. Monday night will start two weeks ahead of the rest of the league to account for the school closures that fall on Monday nights.
Match times are currently 7:30pm to 9:00pm and 9:00pm to 10:30pm. Teams will play 5 sets per match time permitting. New times 7:00pm to 10:30pm, adding an extra 15 mins to each match for set up and take down of the nets, hopefully ensuring every team completes 5 full sets per match. Matches would run 7:00pm to 8:45pm, and 8:45 to 10:30pm. Matches to be held across various schools in Chatham
Discussions are also being had for a tournament(s), the logistics of which are still be sorted out and planned.
Anticipated league start dates, gym assignments and new match times from 7:00pm to 8:45pm / 8:45pm to 10:30pm are all Pending Permit Approval and will be confirmed.
Do you Know:
Anyone who would make a good referee? As usual some of our referees are pursing post secondary education and will not be returning this season. If you would like to recommend an individual 16 yrs or older who has knowledge of volleyball rules and is reliable, please ask them to submit a resume and list of references. I could not think of a better part time job then refereeing a game they love to play, and no weekends!!
I am looking for volunteers to monitor the gym doors to let players in. If you know of any kids/adults that need volunteer hours, please ask then to email thier interest.

Registration accepted at the YMCA branch with:
- Completed Team Roster and Registration form
- Completed Player Code of Conduct for EACH player (wet ink or e-signature acceptable)
- FULL team payment of $1,356 ($1,200 + HST - cash, debit, or credit card accepted)

Tuesday - Coed Comp and Rec: Tues Oct 07,2025 to March 31, 2026
Wednesday - Women's Rec: Wed Oct 08, 2025 to April 01, 2026
Thursday - Men's Comp and Rec: Thurs Oct 09, 2025 to April 02, 2026
Registration open for returning teams: Wed Aug 27, 2025, after 1:00pm
Registration open for New Teams: Tues Sept 02, 2025 (YMCA closed Mon Sept 01, 2025)
Registration Fee: Cost $1,200 + HST = $1,356 per team
Registration Closes: Sun Sept 07, 2025
Captains Meeting for all league nights via Zoom Wed Sept 10, 2025 at 7:00pm, Meeting invitation link will be sent to all team captains and co captains once registration closes.
A reminder email will be sent when we are closer to the date registration opens, which will also include league rules and things to know.

- 20 week regular season with 3 additional weeks of elimination playoffs (weather and instances out of our control aside)
- Games to be played in various Lambton Kent Schools-to be determined as well as the YMCA Chatham. For fairness all teams will be rotated between schools and between two playing times of 19:30-21:00pm and 21:00-22:30pm inclusive of warm up time.
- Games will be based on a best 3/5 format, win by 2, capped at 27 during regular season. Playoffs will be best 3/5 format win by 2 and no cap
- Standings are calculated based on Match Wins, Set Wins, Points for and Points Against. Due to time constraints a 5th set is not always possible or limited to a score of 15. To keep standings fair, they are based on the scores from sets 1 to 4 of each match.
- Referees will be following the Volleyball Guidelines for Canadian Referees as outlined by Volleyball Canada: 2024-25_VC_Rulebook_EN_-_Final.pdf (volleyball.ca)
- All players must min 18 years of age and can only play for the team they are registered and have signed the Player Code of Conduct. No walk on players allowed, regardless of them being registered with another team in the league from any night. Minimum 6 - Maximum 12 players per team.
- NO SPECTATORS ALLOWED, including children and players from other league nights, only players registered to the schedule teams should be in the building. No propping any door open, for any reason, and no wandering the school.
