Care for Newcomer Children (CNC)

The Care for Newcomer Children (CNC) program provides high‑quality, short‑term care for children aged 6 months to 6 years while their parents attend our Language Skills Program at the same location.

At the Y, we believe that play is the primary way in which children learn. That's why our dedicated Early Childhood Educators implement our acclaimed YMCA Playing to Learn™ Curriculum at our Licensed Child Care Centres throughout the region. This national, research-based curriculum is regularly cited for its unique and innovative involvement of educators and children in an enriched learning environment.

CNC is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Staying Connected with Families

CNC uses Weemarkable, a digital documentation tool that allows educators to share photos and moments from a child’s day directly with parents, strengthening trust, communication, and family engagement.

Children are grouped by age to ensure developmentally appropriate care:

Infants

6-18 Months

Toddlers

18 Months - 2 1/2 Years

Preschoolers

2 1/2 - 6 Years

Where We Operate

CNC is offered across our Language Skills program sites in London and Windsor, helping families access care close to where they learn.

Program Schedule

CNC operates in three daily sessions, aligned with language class schedules:
Morning: 8:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.
Afternoon: 12:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
