Welcome to YMCA Employment & Newcomer Services in Windsor
At YMCA, we are here to help you take your next step with confidence. Whether you are new to Canada or looking for work, our Windsor team is ready to support you with care, respect, and understanding.
We offer Employment Services and Newcomer Services in one warm, welcoming place. Our services are free to eligible participants, and you are welcome here. You can get help finding a job, preparing a resume, and getting ready for interviews. You can also receive support with settling into life in Canada, including help with forms, community services, work permits, English classes, and understanding your options.
We know that starting fresh can feel overwhelming. That’s why we take time to listen, explain things clearly, and connect you to the right supports. You don’t have to do this alone − the Y is a place of community, here to help you feel supported, connected, and ready to move forward together.
CELPIP
The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) is a recognized computer-delivered English language assessment tool. CELPIP is ideal for providing proof of English language proficiency for immigration to Canada, Canadian citizenship, employment, admission to various post-secondary programs, or for membership to various professional associations.
Community Connections
Community Connections programming connects you with social and professional networks, community organizations, resources, events, and activities. Connecting with other newcomers and Canadians can help you feel engaged, welcomed and help you gain independence in your new community.
Newcomer Settlement Programs
The Newcomer Settlement Program provides Refugee Claimants, International Students, Canadians not born in Canada, and newcomers with temporary status with information, referral, and supports on various settlement and integration issues including immigration, government forms and services, community and social services, education, housing, employment and getting connected to the community.
Orientation Services
Orientation services for immigrants who are Permanent Residents or Convention Refugees provide help and information in regards to immigration, government forms and services, community and social services, education, housing, employment and getting connected with others in the community.
