Summer 2025 is officially underway at YMCA of Southwestern Ontario, as more than 1,100 campers (ages 4-12) are participating in the first weekly session of YMCA Summer Day Camp.
This summer, the Y has added two new camps to serve even more families in Middlesex County: one in Glencoe, at the Southwest Middlesex Recreation Centre (day camp, ages 4-12); and another in Komoka, at the Komoka Youth Centre (specialty camps, ages 8-12).
Thanks to TD Bank Group, the Y is also offering YMCA Day Camp Experiences for Newcomer Families. With TD’s grant of $20,000, the Y is providing financial assistance to newcomer families for camp registration fees – so that children in Southwestern Ontario who are new to Canada can enjoy the fun, friendship, and adventure of YMCA Summer Day Camp.
“What an incredible partner TD is, fostering Summer Day Camp experiences for newcomer children,” says Andrew Lockie, CEO, YMCA of Southwestern Ontario. “We’re proud of this partnership, and also of our commitment to serving families throughout our region. Summer Day Camp not only is an important child care resource for families; it offers kids of all backgrounds, beliefs, and abilities the chance to shine in the summertime.”
Many generous funders support Summer Day Camp adventures at the Y, including TD, The Catherine and Maxwell Meighen Foundation, Lutheran Social Services (London), Takla Foundation, and the Dorothy and Douglas Parnell Fund at London Community Foundation.
