YMCASWO Co-Presents a Virtual Event on Youth Mental Health During COVID

Mental health is rapidly becoming one of the greatest concerns to Canadians' wellbeing during the pandemic, especially for young people. The YMCA of Southwestern Ontario has partnered with VON Middlesex-Elgin to present VitalConversation: Managing Youth Mental Health During COVID, a virtual event on November 18 as part of the RBC Future Launch Community Challenge. The event will feature a presentation from mental health experts with jack.org, with tips and advice for youth, parents, educators, and community leaders to support the youth in their lives.

COVID-19 has made an unprecedented impact upon mental health in our communities, with additional strain on support systems and restricted access to community resources. For youth, this impact can be amplified by the disruption to their education, employment, and social networks. Many young people are experiencing feelings of isolation, anxiety, and depression, and some may be living in difficult home situations or unsafe spaces.

Vital Conversations prompt discussion around solutions to our communities' most pressing issues. On November 18, Managing Youth Mental Health During COVID will feature a 45-minute presentation and Q&A from jack.org, Canada's only charity training and empowering young leaders to revolutionize mental health in every province and territory.
